Church Camp • Augst 8-13th
It’s time to start planning again for church camp. Forms will be sent out to everyone who attended camp last summer. If you are in need of a new form or additional forms, please see Jed. Camp will be August 8 - 13. Please contact Jed if you are interested. Scholarships will be available for those who sign up before the registration deadline.

New Life Collector's Showcase Event to Benefit Local School Children, Saturday, August 14th
Whether you are a serious collector or are simply looking for something new to do, check out the New Life Collector’s Showcase being held at the Baraboo Elks Club at 623 Broadway (use the Broadway Street entrance).

• Showcase: Here you will find a fun and captivating display of whimsical collectibles and antiques on display for viewing and/or purchase. Chat with the collectors who will share their stories. Showcase tickets are $2.00 at the door (children 5 and under free).

• Educational Seminars: Experts in a variety of fields will share their knowledge on how to identify items, tips on preserving and selling your own collectible or antique. They will offer suggestions on reference material, clubs and web sites and will offer their opinion on the value of two items you may bring with you to the seminar.

• Appraisals: In addition to the experts leading the seminars, there will be appraisers on site to do appraisals of other items not covered by the seminars. Each ticket holder may bring three items for appraisal in addition to those brought to the seminars. Tickets will be handed out for appraisals and attendees will be called by number so you are free to browse the Showcase or sit and enjoy a snack at the food stand while waiting your turn.

• Combination tickets for Seminar/Appraisals are $10.00. Tickets will also include entry to the Showcase. Pre-registration is required and each participant may choose one seminar to attend (check back often as more speakers are being planned).

SEMINAR SCHEDULE:

10:30 a.m. Gems	Are you a self-proclaimed "rock hound"? If so, you will want to attend this presentation on gemology to learn how to identify what treasure lies within, how to display and/or sell your collection.	Al Bonderohe Poynette, WI
11:30 a.m. Phonographs	Demonstration: Listen to the music that entertained your parents or grandparents and learn how to recognize the more valuable manufacturers of antique phonographs.	Scott Malawski Madison, WI
12:30 p.m. Marbles	Marbles, with colorful spheres that haunt memories of childhood, can be worth anywhere from $3.00 to $3,000 each. Our speaker will share his wealth of knowledge and expertise in identifying these fascinating tiny treasures.	Jim Stephenson Waunakee, WI
1:30 p.m Costume Jewelry.	Are you always on the look-out for jewelry that catches your eye? Ann Koski will bring several pieces of costume and antique jewelry to illustrate features to look for on the hunt for that next great piece!	Ann Koski Fitchburg, WI
2:30 p.m. Coins	Are you a Numismatic? That is, a coin collector? Whether you collect for a hobby or an investment, Jim Essence will teach you about storing, cleaning, identifying, and selling your coins.	Jim Essence Madison, WI
3:30 p.m. Charlie Brown & Peanuts Gang	Celebrate the 60th year of the Peanuts gang! Collecting since childhood, Carol has amassed 15,000 pieces and will show you which are valuable to search for in rummage and flea markets.	Carol Pilgrim Oconomowoc, WI

Profits from this event will be used to purchase backpacks and school supplies for disadvantaged children in the Baraboo School District.

The backpack give-away will be held August 21st at New Life church and will also include free basic hari cuts for children. In addition, school personnel will be on hand to answer questions and complete any late registrations, and if needed, health professionals will provide immunizations free of charge.

Sew-n-Sew Group, Mondays • 1:00 -3:00 pm
The Sew-n-Sew Group will be meeting the first and third Mondays of each month at the church. All women are welcome! Please bring a project you want to work on and join in the fellowship!
